This compressor runs about every ten minutes during the day so it runs alot. The last smaller compressor we had went for 20 years before it finally gave out.

(More customer reviews)My friends and I have been using this product for many years to inflate our whitewater rafts. It works well, and I like that I can use it to deflate the rafts as well as inflate. This is a big plus at river take-outs when we need to deflate the boats as quickly and completely as possible to get them loaded on the trailer. This product WILL NOT completely inflate a raft, because it isn't designed to. This is a high volume, low pressure inflat or. It will quickly get your raft to about 60-70%, then you must use a high pressure pump to top it off. I'm not sure that folks understand that when they buy it. They think it's not working right when it doesn't get their inflatable item rock hard. I also like that this product comes in either a 12-volt model and a battery clamp model. I prefer the 12-volt model for ease of use in the front and rear cargo area outlets of my SUV. The only reason I have to buy a new "orange torpedo" every few years is that people aren't careful, and they keep stepping on/ driving over the plug end.

It did spin very well, but double check that your compressor can handle the cubic feet per minute that this tool uses (11.8 cf/m @90 psi) --- it uses much more air than an impact wrench.

(More customer reviews)Works extremely well, has all the features/adjustments of regular HVLP sprayers, works even with my little 2HP 6 Gal PorterCable pancake compressor that came with my air nailer. Granted the compressor does run more often than when your just nailing things, but I haven't had a problem as I build some furniture projects. I imagine painting a room or large objects would be better suited to turbine units that can supply a continuous airflow. But it beats s pending hundreds more for a turbine unit that would just take up more space in my shop. If you have a compressor and want to try spraying finishes this is an economical way to start. I sent it right back and purchaced the Hatachi EC119SA. This compressor is quieter and feels and sounds solid. It is a little heavier,but compared to the alternative I would gladly choose the Hitachi hands down. I am in construction and so far it is working fantastic.

(More customer reviews)I have had this gun awhile. I bought it cause it was inexpensive and I don't use nails or staples a lot, but when I need em I do need em. As the wise man said "only a rich guy can afford cheap tools".
First of all the soft nose does prevent you causing a divot in your workpiece, but the plunger makes up for it. It really makes a "slot" in your wood. Hard to hide, unless you have a putty that match's the wood perfectly. It drives the nail o r staple quite deep and even with the air adjusted lower it will sometimes drive the nail or staple too deep, leaving it protruding out the backside of the two pieces. Very irratating.
This tool is prone to "double taps"....firing twice..one on top of the other...keep a pair of needle nose pliers handy...more scar's on the wood.It also will pick up two nails at the same time and try and drive em into the same hole (keep those needle nose handy). It jams a lot. The "adjustment" for nail length is a pain.
It is comfortable to hold and lightweight, other than that I can't recommend it.

(More customer reviews)I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this product. I have many IR brand tools and accessories and have always been very happy with the quality and durability of this product. I was dismayed however, upon receipt of this product, that when I went to discharge the tank after running it that the drain valves appeared faulty. Upon further inspection i discovered t hat the pit-cocks were painted over which made them 'locked' and immobile without using a pair of channel lock pliers to open. When I finally opened the tank, one chamber was closed and never drained at the factory, which then discharged blackened liquid buildup all over my shop floor. This occurs typically when the compressor is used over time and not properly discharged after use. This is an IR recommended procedure after each use of the compressor. I now need to replace the pit-cocks and clean the threading, or take it to a shop or IR dealer to have it fixed. I should not have to have dealer maintenance performed before the product has even been used.

On another note, Ingersoll-Rand recommends use of synthetic oil in their compressors, however they ship it with standard oil already in the engine. This means they tested it with regular oil and you have to drain it yourself in order to put the manufacture recommended product in.

(More customer reviews)The compressor arrived without a manual or dip-stick for the oil. After using for two hours I had to reset its temperature reset switch twice. This unit draws a big load and would trip a 15A breaker, so I had to lower the kick-in pressure (or install a 20A breaker). The interconnect hose between the tank and the manifold had too tight a bend in it, to the point where it was almost kinked. A braded hose from the compressor to the tank rub bed on the compressor motor. All items that can be adjusted, but should have been done right at the Taiwan factory. The motor start-up Horse Power is 2.5HP. Running Horse Power is 2.0HP. It does run quieter than most.
