Anyway, one of the big reason for my decision to buy this unit is the company IR, IR is basically air compressors, but now I'm much more doubtful based on a customer review for tyhis item that's apparently listed as another product. Here is that gentleman's story in full -not a very good j ob IR!

The Northern Tool company is great in itself, transaction went through cleanly and quickly and the compressor was soon on its way to my home through freight shipping. Ordered a few other tools along with the compressor and those got to my house quickly and at an excellent price. But then when the nightmare began.

I received my air compressor sometime around mid june and broke the engine in as per manufacturer instructions. First day out on the job I ran it for about 10 minutes and it broke down! cost me 200 dollars in lost wages that day!

I called Ingersoll-Rand customer service. After waiting about 20 minutes to actually talk to someone they told me (in a quite rude manner) that I should take it to a specialized certified mechanic in town that fixes all of their products and that it wasnt a problem with the factory.

I took it to the mechanic they had referred me to only to find out they were not an Ingersoll-Rand service center! IR had revoked his certification because he wasnt meeting some kind of quota set by IR!

I called IR back to confirm the place and they told me not to go to the mechanic they had referred me to earlier, instead to go 150 miles south to a shop in Los Angeles! I, rather annoyed, reminded them that I was loosing money every day this machine was down and that I expected better service from them and better quality of product. Well they basicly told me I wasnt important and told me I had no choice but to take it down to Los Angeles or try to fix it myself.

Well I couldnt wait. I took the compressor apart and found out that some numbnut at the factory did not properly tighten the screws on the flywheels that connect the engine to the compressor pump. As a matter of fact it did nt even have the square key thats designed to hold the wheel in place! The wheel on the engine side had been stripped to the point where it was unusable.

Once again I called them to find out if the parts I could order to get this thing up and running again would be covered under warranty, and they told me since I took it apart it was no longer under warranty and that I was up the creek without a paddle.

50 dollars in parts later I had it up and running and I was making money again.

Since then the compressor has been excellent. It has not failed since I fixed it and it has a higher CFM per PSI than other compressors in its price range, and the Honda engine is one of the best and most reliable on the market right now. In all honesty I love this compressor but IRs customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Would I recommend this compressor? Yes, just make sure all the parts are tightened and in place becore you start it for the fi rst time, especially the flywheels.

Am I happy with Ingersoll-Rand? Heck no. If push came to shove I will probably buy an Emglo or Dewalt compressor next time.

(More customer reviews)After spending my vacation in Florida during hurricane Wilma, I learned the value of being prepared for a prolonged power outage. This unit would have been just the thing.

This is essentially a big 12 volt battery and an inverter that produces 120v AC from the battery. While this unit won't power a heater or an air conditioner, it can power a small fan overnight so you can sleep. It can also charge your cell phone and laptop. (After a ll, your laptop's DVD player might be your only entertainment.) The XPower can power a lamp so you can read or play cards, or you can watch a small TV for a few hours. You can plug in just about anything so long as the total number of watts drawn is 480 or less. (The 600 watt rating is a 5 minute rating, you can only draw 480 watts continuously.) Keep in mind, if you do pull 480 watts, you'll only get 15 minutes of run time. It's best to think of the 600HD as a way to keep small essentials going.

There's an emergency light built-in. if you place the unit so the light bounces off a near-by wall, it makes a nice low-level room light. With the backside facing you, you see the built-in clock radio. It's not hi-fi, but it's not horrible, it has good volume and it can wake you in the morning. There's also a 12v outlet and a connector for attaching the supplied jumper cables.

You do have to be mindful of the number of watts you pull from the unit if you wan t the battery to last. It's easy to know how many watts you're drawing because the unit tells you on it's digital display. It's a good thing you can charge the XPower from a car cigarette lighter. During my adventure in Wilma's wake, I would have used the XPower by night and charged it in the car while driving during the day. The digital display also shows the percentage of charge left in the battery.

The best thing to have during a prolonged power outage is a gas generator. But generators require periodic maintenance. And you have to store fresh gas and remember to change the gas periodically. With the HD600, you just find an out-of-the-way corner, plug in the AC charger and forget all about it until the lights go out.

The XPower has a big 28 amp-hour battery which is good for capacity, but makes the unit heavy, almost 30 pounds, so you won't want to carry it very far. Xantrex makes smaller units, but I think the 600 is the best compromise between ca pacity and portability. The XPower's construction is robust and it looks like it could take some hard knocks.

I am normily a Milwaukee guy , but I wanted to try a different brand so I took a chance on makita. I own alot of makita tools just not there saws . I am a carpenter and I need stuff to last because it gets used every day for 8+ hours. After I used the saw I love the balance and weight I also think the LED work light is a nice thing to have in low light c onditions. All around I would recomend to all people that need a saw that is built to last!!!

I use it to get close to what i want to fill at and then use a digital air pressure gauge to get an exact reading and adjust.

This piece of equipment is not for someone looking for a "ready out of the box" compressor. It has to be plumbed into place and requires about $125 worth of accessories: power cord, shutoff valve, water trap/dirt separator, pressure regulator, hose, etc. It also requires about 4 or 5 hours worth of labor to plumb. Overall I am completely satisfied with this compressor, it's quiet, and by quiet I mean I can talk over it without yelling, like the case with most smaller oil free compressors. I highly recommend this compressor to anyone that needs an almost endless supply of air without waiting for the pump and tank to catch back up.

(More customer reviews)With some trepidation I bought this product. Read the instructions, and went to their website for further info. There were articles on installation, and videos. I assembled the Manifold and Outlet as instructed. Then I the Manifold and Outlet in their respective locations. Measured the lengths of hose as I proceeded across my shop. First from the compressor to the manifold, then to the hose outlet. Then from there across the shop using a 90o angle. This wen t to another 90o angle down to the Outlet. Hooked up another hose with a blowing air nozzle. Turned on the compressor and used soapy water to search for any leaks.
Found one and fixed it in the nozzle. No leaks in the system. So far works great with two usable outlets for a nail gun and other tools, as well as blowing off my bench and floor.

Well designed, with wheels and a pull out handle that makes maneuvering it around a breeze. The roll cage protects the vulnerable parts well. Gauges are easy to read and well protected. Hot surfaces are well protected so you shouldn't burn yourself accidentally. Fill time from an empty tank is about a minute and a h alf. I have no prior experience with Grip Rite so this is a bit of an experiment but so far so good.

(More customer reviews)The hose is a little short, for the 2002 Impala I recharged. After I worked out the angles the product worked very well. I had no problem on the recharge and followed the instructions on the can. What I did find is that even though my AC was blowing cool air before the charge, 19oz's wasn't enough to fully charge the system. When I tried to purchase a refill can, it seems that it is only sold with the dispensing hose and gauge. I ended up purchasing an additional two 12 oz cans at a local store to finish the job. The dispensing hose did fit the R134a cans I bought and operated properly. I'm very happy with the product.

(More customer reviews)I operate a small engine shop. And from time to time, I will come across engines which are extremely dirty, and or have caked on oil. I like to consider myself unique, because not only will I work on a piece of equipment and get it going, I like to clean it up as well. A happy customer means everything in my line of work, so I am happy to please.

The engine cleaning gun basically looks like its a welding torch, with a 1/4" tube coming out the back of it. It i s designed to use your choice of detergent from the flexible clear pickup tube, and compressed air from your air compressor. I like to run my gun at 60-PSI and no higher, be sure to wear eye protection and a dust mask.

EXPERIENCE: While this gun does clean the engine from dirt and oil, it however lacks the force needed to remove caked on oil. You end up having to combine the gun with a rag or scrub brush. I think I could get better results with a carburetor cleaner. The main thing is, this tool does indeed expedite my cleaning process for most engines. I usually can get them clean as in brand new.

NOTE: Higher pressures does not seem to help the gun any, if only creates a cloud of detergent in the air, if not wearing a dust mask or respirator, can cause you to begin to cough as the vapors attack your lungs. So keep it 60-PSI or bellow using your compressor regulator.

CONCLUSION: In conclusion, I think this is a good gun, worth the purchase pr ice, and is definitely useful. But if your buying this thinking its going to be a magical cleaning wonder, you can forget it. All in all, I give this a 3 out of 5.
