Campbell Hausfeld VT6275 15 Amp 3.2-Horsepower 60-Gallon Oiled Vertical Compressor
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I just received my unit several days ago. It was purchased to replace an aging Sears 2 HP compressor, which had mysteriously turned itself on during the night (even though the switch was Off!) and kept running, overheating and filling my home with oily smoke.
The purchase and delivery experience was great. I got the free shipping, and was expecting this would take 2-3 weeks on the slow train. I was surprised to get a call from the freight company two days after I ordered it, asking when I wanted it delivered. It arrived in perfect condition.
True to market hype, the 6.5 HP rating advertised is actually an overstatement. The label on the unit says it is a 3.2 HP, and that makes sense given the current draw. A true 6.5 HP unit would require a 30-50A circuit, like my Delta 5HP Unisaw. But this unit meets my needs at a good price.
Campbell Hausfeld makes this identical unit for a lot of other manufacturers... you'll notice different paint colors, but it's the same unit. Surprisingly, some other manufacturers charge more... as far as I can tell only the paint color and brand sticker is different. Buy this one and save yourself some money.
A downside over some of the cheaper units is that you'll need to provide your own electrical cord, air regulator and plumbing from the tank. I purchased Campbell Hausfeld's vertical compressor mount kit direct from their websit e for about $11. It comes with rubber and metal plates, as well as lag screws and lag shields to safely mount the unit to the floor. I've also purchased a flexible pipe to make the connection from the compressor tank (after a ball shutoff valve) to the rest of the plumbing in my system.
The cast iron compressor pump is definitely quieter than my old aluminum one was. The unit operates very smoothly and relatively quietly for a compressor, but it's still noisy.
I'll submit an update after I've used the unit for a while, but so far, so good.

Hitachi EC12 14.5 amp 2-Horsepower 4-Gallon Oiled Twin Hot Dog Compressor
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)This machine is yet another good example of high quality Hitachi engineering. This compressor has outlasted several other brands. The machine has run two finishing guns continuously for almost a year and hasn't needed anything more than an oil change The regulator is predictable, and adjusts as easily as other brands. I firmly believe that Hitachi gets 4.1 CFM out of 14.5 amps. We simply do not run out of air no matte r how fast we are working with the Senco SFN40's. Down time has been zilch. One thing we did add was a water/oil separator and filter to protect our work and our guns. I suppose Hitachi (and most other brands) leaves these off so that they will have a competitive price. But it does not make economical sense for YOU to leave them off.
While I have given this compressor a 5 star rating, there are some things for the engineers (and you!) to think about in the next model: 1. The way the regulator is mounted it is difficult to make a manifold for two hoses without hanging those pipes out there where they can get knocked off. Anyone who has knocked one off before will know that A) everyone in the neighborhood knows it right away and B) it puts you down for some expensive time. And C) when this happens, it often creates an unwanted projectile. It took me three street elbows and an hour of figuring to get the quick disconnects in a safe place. 2. When you pick the unit up with the handle, the unit tilts a bit. This means you have to hold it out away from your body a bit more than the size of the compressor would promise. All that horsepower weighs enough to make this more uncomfortable than need be. We just bent the handle with a torch to get on the center of gravity.
These are relatively small gigs on a really great compressor. I only spent so many words on them so that the engineers might just read this. It seems they will have plenty of time to correct this before the ones I own wear.

Accutire MS-4021B Standard Digital Tire Gauge: Automotive
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)Please ignore the other two users that gave this gauge only one star because it only read 28.5 psi. I find it amusing, but sad, that they didn't realize that there was a protective sticker on the screen that read 28.5. If you peel off that protective sticker, then you get a nice, bright red backlit number displaying your true tire pressure. This gauge works great! The display is amazingly easy to read, and it is also simple to get a good reading.
Prior to owning this Accutire model, I had a 7 year old Accutire digital gauge that finally broke. WIth that old model, it was much harder to get a reading without air leaking out. With this new model, if you just push the gauge straight into the valve stem, you easily get a solid reading without leaking air. The old model's display wasn't backlit either, and I was truly impressed with the large, bright numbers on this new model. I'd highly recommend getting this gauge, as it has all the functionality you need, at a very reasonable price. I like having accuracy to 0.5 psi, and I never use non-digital gauges unless I have no other choice. I also tested this gauge with back-to-back measurements, and it was accurate every time. You won't regret this purchase...

Factory-Reconditioned DEWALT D55146R Heavy Duty 4.5 Gallon Compressor with Wheels
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I was disappointed to see that this item has been withdrawn. Perhaps related to the way they are shipped? I shopped around for a compressor that was relatively inexpensive yet had enough CFM for some of the more demanding tools like higher end painters and impact wrenches that need 5+ CFM at 90psi.
My compressor arrived today. Despite the box looking to be in good shape, I found a broken piece laying the the bottom of the box. After a bit of research I found it was part of the mounting bracket the holds the compressor to the frame. There are three of them, one steel, and two cast (pot?) metal formed with the casing. The piece that was broke goes over the rubber under it that helps with vibration.
I went to the web site to see about getting a replacement and noticed that the item was no longer available so they only gave me the option of a refund, not a replacement. I was very disappointed as I thought this was the ideal compressor for the price, especially the cheaper, refurbed (in Mexico) unit.
I thought I would take a flyer, and rather than accept a refund and return it, to instead see if Amazon would be willing to give me a partial refund to offset the damage. Since the damage probably won't affect the operation of the unit, I was willing to keep it if reimbursed something for the damage. I suspect such negotiation isn't conventional for mo st businesses, but what did I have to lose to ask.
These units retail for around $600-700, are sold new by Amazon for $350, but the refurbs were a more modest $254 with free shipping. Amazon offered me a 40% refund if I didn't return it. I thought that was very gracious. I was also amazed to get a reply literally within minutes of asking for a partial refund, assuming I would get rejected. I think the resulting $153 price delivered to my door was awesome :) I almost bought a $150 compressor from Northern Tool (located locally) but like other cheaper units, it just didn't have the higher volume needed for the better air tools.
Having just gotten the unit today, I only did the 15-minute break-in and then pumped up the tank to be sure it would hold air. It passed that test with flying colors. Four hours later the tank still has full pressure so it seems to be holding the pressure well too.
I don't know why, but they ask you to operate t he compressor horizontally, and only have it vertical for hauling and storage. Based on how I think it works, I wouldn't think running it vertically would matter, but I won't take that chance.
WARNING: As someone else noted, this is a higher pressure unit than most comparable units. As a result, the 250psi air hose most people are buying is NOT adequate. The owner's manual clearly says you should buy a 300psi hose instead. I am guessing the 250psi hose would work as the operating pressure is only 200psi, but for the price, why not do as asked? The hose most people are buying is the yellow Goodyear hose for around $20, but the Goodyear 300psi hose is $43, so being frugal I looked around. I see Amazon offers several choices, from no name to known names. But rather than buying the $43 Goodyear hose, I bought the $27 Gates hose, another fine brand. I called the local auto parts store and they stocked the same Gates hose for $68. It is red instead of "safety" yellow, but who cares, not me.
It would be great if Amazon would put something in the description about the need for a 300psi hose as it seems people (like another reviewer) are ordering the 250psi hose and then having to return it after reading the manual.

Steele Products SP-CE155QT 4.6 Gallon Aluminum Twin-Tank Quiet Air Compressor
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I spent weeks reviewing the specs on every small air compressor I could find in-store, online and have-in-mind, before I bought this one. Weight, noise level, quality and CFM output were the comparisons. The CFMs actually listed on it are 5.2 at 40PSI and 4.2 at 90PSI. It has 55dB noise level which makes it the quietest compressor available. There's a huge difference between 55dB and 60dB because it's a logarithmic scale - not linear. My concerns about not having wheels were removed because it weighs less than 50 lbs., compare that to 38 lbs for my retractable hose with reel. It arrives with only one part (air filter) to attach. This compressor is small, quiet and delivers enough CFMs to power professional pneumatic tools. It has a 1-year warranty which is the same as others. It's energy efficient using a 1.5hp. Right now, noise is a huge factor and our baby really is not awakened. In fact, no one complains when I power this up except they wish they had one too - spoken in a normal speaking voice.
CON: The manual is terrible. 7 pages of generic information about hazards, risks, and instructions on how to operate all air compressors safely. One page of specific operating instructions. Two pages of diagrams for parts. However, the components mentioned in the operating instructions are not shown anywhere. There are a few mis-spellings/grammar errors but that's a very minor issue.
Buy it!

(More customer reviews)This is a really nice hose. It is very heavy walled, which will hold 300 PSI and also resists kinking better than lightweight hoses. It is quite flexible which makes it easy to postion without cramping your work style. The ends require 1/4" NPT fittings. I like the orange color - it stays bright and easy to see when it's strung accross the floor.
If you are looking for a durable, heavy-duty hose, here it is.

Ingersoll Rand SS3L3 3-Horsepower 230-Volt 60-Gallon Vertical Compressor
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)This air compressor is identical to my Ingersoll Rand SS3L3 compressor that I purchased through Northern Tool in the early summer of 2005. This is the first air compressor that I have ever owned, so it was a learning experience from the start.
It is recommended that you purchase the IR SS3L3 startup kit as the compressor is delivered to you without any oil in it. In some cases the warranty is not valid unless you h ave purchased the startup kit.
One thing I immediately noticed was that the pressure switch was flimsy. When I plugged in the compressor to test it out, I found that the motor continued to run even as the gauge on the tank passed 130 psi. As it creeped closer to 135 psi (the limit printed on the tank), I pulled the plug. I ordered a new switch from Ingersoll Rand for ~ $35 and this fixed the problem. Perhaps I could have made a warranty claim, but it was easier to order the switch as there is an authorized IR dealer nearby and I had the switch within 2 days.
I ran the compressor off and on for several months without any major issues. I used it for several things... a little bit of die grinding, I rotated the tires on my car using the impact wrench and air ratchet, I used it to blow dust off my work bench and check the air in my tires on a routine basis. I bought the compressor because I have several project cars, and I would like to begin the serious work of restoring them. Recently, I have been looking at plans for a sandblasting cabinet, and I am starting to doubt that this compressor will stand up to the task of sand blasting for extended periods. Things I have learned about the compressor since its purchase that have led me to this conclusion:
1. This unit uses a 3 HP "split phase" motor, which can be run on a standard 30A 230V household outlet - it draws about 15A during continuous duty. (I swap between my compressor and my dryer on the only 230V outlet in my house). The motor does not output a true 3 HP at all times. At startup the motor may approach its 3 peak horsepower, but during normal operation it may only be outputting half that power, so in truth it is essentially a 1.5 HP motor. This borderline false advertising is similar to peak and RMS power ratings in audio amplifiers, though it is fairly standard operating procedure to rate motors in this fashion. It is not a question of efficiency - it is an intended feature built into the windings of the motor.
2. The motor runs at 3450 RPM. Though it is quieter than a direct drive unit like the 30 gallon compressors sold at most hardware stores, 3450 RPM is still quite fast. With the pulley ratios, the compressor crank spins at 1200 RPM. Heavier duty systems might have the AC motor running at 1200-1750 RPM with the compressor running at ~700 RPM or less, resulting in a much quieter setup. If I could do it over, I would consider a slower, beefier unit with a true power rating that runs at a slower, more quiet speed.
3. There is apparently no available rebuild kit for the compressor itself, according to the local IR dealer, though they do sell gaskets and the oiling kit. It is a very simple design, consisting of essentially three parts; a cylinder head, cylinder block, and crankcase. It is a two cylinder, single stage compressor. The "valves" in the head are what I believe are called "reed valves", wh ich are simply spring loaded "fingers" that cover holes in the cylinder head, and they move with the blowing/sucking of air as the pistons move in the cylinders (no mechanical actuation of the valves). The pistons are aluminum, and though I measured, I don't remember the diameter... something on the order of 60 mm. The rods are also aluminum, and there are no rod bearings. The crankshaft is cast iron machined at the journals, and the aluminum rods rotate on the crank without any rod bearings. The crankcase does not have a removeable oil pan, and the cylinder block bolts to the crankcase. I was somewhat disappointed to discover the absence of rod bearings and the use of aluminum rods.
4. The compressor can run fairly hot, especially when pressurizing the tank from zero pressure. I would like to add an intercooler in line to the tank as the compressed air is quite hot, and I think the compressor itself could use some more cooling. I bought some copper to fab up a l arger heat sink for the compressor housing, though I haven't made it yet. I think this will make the unit run much cooler, and therefore extend its life. The flywheel on the compressor is designed to move air over the unit, but I still think the design needs improvement.
5. There is a flimsy petcock drain valve in the bottom of the tank that is difficult to access. It is irritatingly small, difficult to reach, and awfully flimsy. I have not yet installed a regulator and filter in the system, and I haven't checked how much condensation has collected in the tank. I would like to replace this drain valve, if possible, though I have been putting this off simply because I don't want to lay down on the floor and fiddle with it. (Note: Added 10/10/06 - I added a Swagelok right angle 1/4" male NPT to 1/4" tube adaptor to this drain orifice, then plumbed 1/4" tubing out from under the tank and connected this to a ball valve. I angled the tubing downward so that condensatio n is sprayed in pretty patterns on the floor. On any given day I release about 1/4 cup of oily, rusty, watery residue. This makes me want to install a condensor between the compressor and tank).
6. I have made several trips to the hardware store to find the correct fittings to get the unit running properly, though most fittings were readily available. It seems to me that a lot of the fittings on the system are kind of cheap, though I am used to the Swagelok fittings that I use at work, which are expensive and well worth the price. Copper tubing is used to route compressed air from the compressor to the tank, and I think some improvements could be made there, as well.
(Note: Point #7 added 10/13/06)
7. The oil reservoir drain plug is on the bottom of the crank case, however this is no practical way to drain the oil without spilling it all over the top of the tank. One could remove the compressor to change the oil, but a better soultion would be to insert a ball valve in the oil drain plug for easy draining. I have not yet done this, as I'm procrastinating over the necessary oil spill that will come with project. I suspect that the threading on the oil plug is standard NPT like all of the other fittings on the tank - possible 1/4" or 3/8".
IR sells the SS5L5, which uses the same 60 gallon tank, but a 5 HP split phase 3450 RPM motor running a different two piston single stage compressor. For someone considering more power, this unit is still quite affordable, but it will still have some of the drawbacks of this system. It turns out that 5 HP is about the most one can get out of a 30A single phase 230V household circuit without flipping breakers.
My biggest complaints are the use of the split phase motor, the relatively cheap design of the compressor (aluminum rods and lack of rod bearings), the flimsy pressure switch, and the cheap fittings used all over the machine. I will continue to use this uni t for some time, but I am already considering either building my own low RPM, true 4-5 HP air compressor from various parts suppliers, or just purchasing a new one from a company like Eaton Compressor. Ingersoll Rand makes the Type 30 series which is a step above the SS series, and I have considered these units as well, but I would almost feel safer building the unit on my own so that I know exactly what is going into it.
For someone that needs something better than the cheap 30 gallon direct drive units sold at most hardware stores, this unit is more than adequate. However, if you are considering something for medium-heavy duty, you might want to consider something with a little more quality, and therefore more cost. Like houses, I think good advice for someone looking to buy an air compressor is "buy the most you can afford". I for one like the idea of a compressor running at a quiet 750 RPM at a mere 73 dBa, as opposed to my high revving 1200 RPM SS3L3.
< br />(Note: Added 10/10/06 -- As far as safety is concerned, this item will never blow up and injure anyone - IR has installed safety valves all over this tank as the other reviewer mentioned. IR would never permit such a liability to pass into the hands of the consumer, of course. Meanwhile, my criticisms of this unit are based on what I'd like to see in a compressor, that is all. I thought I was paying for more than I got.)
And as a final note, I will say that IR has excellent customer support. With authorized IR dealers all over the country, getting parts (like gaskets, pressure switches, and oiling kits) is pretty painless.

Senco PC1131 Compressor, 2.5-Horsepower (PEAK) 4.3-Gallon
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I have used this compressor for a few days now with a coil framing nailer and it works fine, has plenty of capacity for one gun, and is relatively quiet.
I would give it 5 stars except that packaging is poor and instructions for initial set-up are also poor. The compressor ships in its original retail box, not double boxed, and mine was torn open and then re-taped. The box says an oil bottle is included and there is space for it in the box, but in fact Senco is shipping with oil in the compressor and no oil bottle (I found this confusing as it looks like the oil bottle was stolen or missing). The air filter comes unattached and you have to figure out where to attach it on your own (a little sketch would be helpful for the spatially challenged). The air inlet has a plastic plug inserted so don't start your compressor before finding and removing the plug and attaching the air filter.
Finally, if you do happen to have a major problem such as a dead compressor, Amazon will not accept a return ("too dangerous") and will simply refer you to the distributor.
These may be nit-picky points, but I thought I would throw them out there to possibly help some one else considering this compressor.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this reconditioned unit for a home workshop because it seemed like a good deal and was supposed to have been returned to new like condition by the manufacturer.
I recieved the compressor with three guns, brad, finish, and stapler. The brad and finish nailer fired once and jammed. (yes I used the correct nails and brads for each gun). The problem was that the internal driver pin that drives the nail or b! rad froze and could not be unjammed to allow more that one nailing at a time.
I contact Bostich and was refferred to a local tool repair company who refused to service the guns. I ended up sending the whole thing back to Amazon for a refund.
The only good thing about the purchase was that Amazon was prompt in giving the refund and din't charge return shipping.
The Bostich seemed like a good deal but was nothing but a hassle and I'm still looking for a good brad and finish nailer combo kit for my Home workshop.

Black & Decker VEC026BD Electromate 400 Jump-Starter with Built-In Air Compressor: Automotive
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I just wanted to clear up some common misconceptions regarding these jump-start/inverter/inflator products. I personally own 3 different types from 400 watts to 1500 watts and have done tons of research on them. I guess you could call it an unusual hobby I have. I blame the manufacturers for over hyping these units or just choosing not to inform consumers of their limitations.
THESE UNITS A! RE NOT AS POWERFUL AS YOU THINK! Most people seem to be very disappointed by the amount of "juice" these put out.
--FRESHLY CHARGED this item will probably run a small TV/DVD combo continuously for around 2.5 hours. That's it. Also, you can't run a coffee maker, hair drier, microwave, refrigerator or heavy duty power tool off this. It's just not designed for that kind of use. Buy this to run a small TV, fan or laptop for a few hours, or to charge your cell phone. That's all it's designed for.
--You probably won't be able to jump start an 8 cylinder engine with this especially if it's an older car or has a totally dead battery. These units are mostly for 4 and 6 cylinder engines. They just don't have large enough batteries in them to turn over a big V-8.
--The air compressor is little more than a toy. All of these units have tiny, noisy compressors in them that will take 20 to 30 minutes to inflate a single full size 16" tire that is totall! y flat. And you will completely kill the battery just doing on! e tire l ike that. Plus you may damage the compressor by running it that long continuously because they heat up so much during use. You're better off taking your tire to a gas station!
THE UNIT WILL SELF-DISCHARGE JUST BY SITTING IN YOUR CAR! It will lose about 10 - 20% of it's charge PER MONTH. The hotter it is outside the faster it will self-discharge. PLUS YOU WILL EVENTUALLY DESTROY THE INTERNAL BATTERY BY LEAVING IT IN A PROLONGED DISCHARGED STATE! You can easily kill this device permanently by a process known as sulfation, in as little as one year, if you don't keep it charged. (This is what happened to my first unit, a Xantrex Power-Plus 400. It cost me about 1/2 the original cost of the unit to replace the battery!)
- To prevent this you need to either bring it in the house and recharge it about once a month (who's going to remember to do this?), or keep it plugged into the cigarette lighter at all times. Some people claim this can overcharge the batter! y, but I disagree. Your cars built-in voltage regulator should keep the unit topped off without doing any damage to it. Plus you know you always have a freshly 100% charged unit ready to go.
-You should immediately recharge it after each use. If you use it for a jumpstart or even to recharge your cellphone you should recharge the unit within a day or two. This practice will prevent harmful sulfation and prolong the life of the unit.
-These don't last forever. Just like your car battery eventually needs to be replaced so will the battery in this device. Expect about 100 full charge/discharge uses or 5 - 7 years, whichever comes first, before the battery in this will need to be replaced. Some of these jump-starters/inverters don't have user replaceable batteries so you may have to replace the whole unit anyway. You can usually find a reasonably priced replacement battery on e-Bay if you're handy enough to disassemble the unit and find out what size batt! ery is inside. Based on the weight and size I would say the VE! C026BD h as a 20 Amp Hr battery inside it, but that is only a guess on my part and should be verified by disassembly.
For the money I'm not super-impressed with this unit. I just bought the Xantrex PowerPack 600 on sale from Amazon for $100 delivered. The 600 has a more powerful battery and can run larger appliances longer than the B&D. It usually goes for $130 but even at that price it's worth the premium over the B&D.
I hope this guide has been helpful to you to maximize the usefulness and life of your jump-start inverter, and to give you an idea of what to expect when you purchase one.

Factory-Reconditioned Porter-Cable C2002-WKR Oil-Free UMC Pancake Compressor with 13-Piece Accessory Kit
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I purchased the C2002 WKR to replace a well used 10 year old Porter cable CF2600 120 psi 6 gallon compressor, which was overheating. With the exception of being packaged in a plain brown box (instead of the new model box printed white and red), and the small refurbished sticker on the compressor housing, my unit appears to be brand new. The box arrived in great shape with no dents or marks. ! I looked at a new C2002 at a big box store and it appears the plain brown refurbished box is slightly heavier than the printed new box, which is good thing if are buying on line and having it shipped.
What I like
- The oversized handle on top is a great improvement over the single sided grab pocket on the old CF2600
- The second air port is a great addition as It allows two guns to be plugged in and used at the same time.
- My model unit came with an accessory kit containing a 25' air hose and fittings so no need to go by a hose for the second air port..
- There are features on the side of the pump housing for winding up the cord, and there is a cord clip molded into the plug. No more dangling wires during transport.
- There is a cover over the pressure gages and manifold - The cord on my CF2600 would occasionally snag on the unprotected gauges.
- The unit is slightly lighter than the CF2600 it is replacing.
- The 150 psi ca! pacity with 120 psi recharge pressure means my framing nailer ! in parti cular can run for a long time. I was applying OSB sheathing to a roof ( nailing ever 8" bang, bang, bang). By the time the air pressure got down to where the nails were not fully seated, it was time to stop and reload nails anyway. Note I run with the single shot sequential trigger. If running with the faster bump fire trigger, the compressor might not be able to fully keep up.
- Looking thru the slats in the pump housing I can see that Porter Cable has added internal ducts / baffles to improve the air flow of the cooling fan. My old unit was basically an open box with a fan at one end. On this new unit I can definitely feel a forced flow of hot air coming out the back compared to the more gentle flow on the old one.
Other comments.
- There is a warning label on the unit which says remove compressor from service (or replace tank) 10 years after date of purchase. Reason given is "Risk of Bursting. Water will condense in the air tank. If not draine! d, water will corrode and weaken the air tank causing a risk of air tank rupture". Owners manual instructs "Drain air tank daily or after each use." : Realistically speaking even purging tank after each use won't get out 100% of the water, so after ten years it is probably a good idea to retire the unit. Thus if the service life is only 10 years, saving the extra $$$ by buying a refurbished unit makes sense.
Very happy with the performance so far.

GMC SYCLONE 6310 Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)It's a little guy and you would expect it to be pretty much powerless. Not so says I. It is a god awful silver color and does actually say GMC on it. Putting the UGH in ugly aside for the moment, this thing does exactly what it says it can and does it without waking the neighbors after a midnight paint frenzy. Nah you can't use it to paint a car in an hour but who cares. If you buy this your running small paint jobs, nail guns, brad guns, ! small to medium air tools along with tire chucks and blowing crap out of a corner that the broom and vac wont reach. It is quiet and goes all day if you need it to. It is medium-small so you can take it with you without to much trouble.
Eat your heart out Briggs. Now if they would paint the ugly duckling black and yellow or blue or, well anything other than stark-blinding silver. Oh I think I should mention to all of you perfectionists out there that the welding points where they attached things to the tank are rough. They didn't grind 'em down to be smooth or look good-thus the silver to cover it all up.
I like it and will buy another when this ones life force blows out.
Thanks for reading.

Porter-Cable C2002 Oil-Free UMC Pancake Compressor

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item from Lowes just because I had seen this item manufactured on How It's Made on the Science Channel and took note that many steps were taken during manufacturing to insure a good end product. I have other compressors at my home including a 60 Gallon 240 Volt professional grade compressor but this portable compressor is a great product. It is compact, light, powerful, is stable and balanced when running, and has a cutoff pressu! re of 150 P.S.I. that helps it stay well ahead of the performance game. I use it whenever I want a portable air source, it is as convenient to transport as a portable vacuum cleaner. I would recommend this to any homeowner who needs a reliable, convenient source of compressed air. Additionally, it has two output quick connectors and very nice gauges and regulator. It is my first oil-less air compressor and I am satisfied with it's performance.

Hyundai HPC3010 3-Gallon Air Compressor Kit
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)Can't beat it!
Air tools are rated to run at 90 PSI. They all work, but I haven't had the chance to actually use them on something.
The only thing to complain about is why they left out an air chuck for pumping up tires?
I had to buy one separately.
Nice kit, and the hose is a rienforced braided, inner and outer layer type not just a rigid, coiled, solid nylon tubing.
Smooth running and has a all me! tal screw in air filter (into the head) with a replaceable inner paper cartridge.
Quality is very good on the compressor and the tools.
Even has a thick blue metallic paint job on the tank and thick, silver metallic paint on the handle!
Perfect for a starter kit for someone like me using it occasionally and without any prior air tools, etc.
Small and compact. Well thought out. All brass fittings and copper tubing. The chrome plating is even good on the chromed parts.
Came with staples and brads too. Nice metal lever ON/OFF switch. No cheapo type plastic parts all over, except cover to direct cooling air over the cylinder and head, and it's not a cheap plastic. It has separate motor cooling and cylinder & head air cooling. Air blows out of the crank housing through two slats and air blows up the ramp cowling and over the head and cylinder. It also has two hose connections as well.
Nice little, quality ! setup for the money. Guess Hyundai wasn't going to just stick! their n ame in big letters on a piece of junk.
Break in period is to run it with the tank drain open for 15 minutes.

Campbell Hausfeld FP209599AV 2-Gallon Mini Twin-Stack Air Compressor with 1 1/4-Inch 2-in-1 Brad Nailer / Stapler Kit: Home Improvement
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I was tired of throwing money away on canned air so I bought this Campbell Hausfeld 2 Gallon Mini Twin-Stack Air Compressor. A lot of people thought I was nuts, but then let's do the math....a can of air nowadays costs roughly $6 and I go through at least one a week times that by 52 weeks and you have $312. So in about five months time this compressor will have pa! id for itself.
The included nail/stapler gun does an excellent job. Just keep in mind that the gun which comes with this compressor is a simple brad nailer fit for doing jobs such as hanging thin sheets of paneling. The step up from that would be a finish nailer, which you would use that for nailing molding. The step above that would be a framing nailer and those are usually 3 ¼-inch nails for framing. For the finish and framing nailer you would need a much larger compressor to operate efficiently.
This compressor is best suited for small jobs. For instance, it excelled at inflating my dad's car tires and my brother's bike tires (set at 60 PSI) and the compressor only kicked on once or twice. However, when using it to blow air (set at 85 PSI) it only lasts about thirty seconds or so, then I have to wait about five minutes for it to fill back up. This does not bother me for like I said one can of air is about $6 and so waiting for five minutes for the t! ank to refill with free air is no biggie.
Something! else to keep in mind if you're thinking of purchasing this compressor is to make sure you buy some extra fittings (and a roll of Teflon tape for wrapping the threads). The compressor comes with a few extras, but they're nothing to get excited about. For instance with the included inflation nozzle I added a 1/4" male coupler connector and a quick connector on one end of the hose so I can snap it on and off easily.
You will also need to buy a blow gun (Campbell Hausfeld MP520010AV 25-Piece Accessory Kit with Case) and it's a good idea to have a moisture filter to prevent water in the line (Campbell Hausfeld G6261 Water Filter). I bought a CH filter and installed it on the air outlet on the tank (using a 3/8" x 3/8" male coupling) and then hooked my hose to the other end. You can use quick couplings to make life easier for yourself, that way you can interchange hoses and tools in a snap.
All in all I am very happy with this purchase. The compressor runs smoothly. It's good looking. And it's not very loud. What more can you ask?
